Well, for obvious reasons, copper is quite expensive. However, costs associated with hospital-acquired infections is estimated at $45 billion annually and death tolls around 100,000 from such infections. It is suggested that the high cost of covering key surfaces in the copper alloy would be recovered within 3 months.
So, in the interest of Americans' health and our deficit, we think these Low Country scientists may be on to something wonderful.
